Many pro players use this classic wood-combed harmonica
(which pre-1975 was the best
diatonic anyone could buy), but is not necessarily
recommended for
beginners or someone that does not plan on spending the
time or money involved on customizing it (mainly to seal the
pear wood comb). These harmonicas can leak air and make it
very difficult for beginners to learn on, especially the
bending technique. See the Marine
Band Deluxe (link listed below) for a "pre-customized" version which is a better
quality and more airtight wood-combed Marine Band.) But, again,
many pros play
the customized and non-customized versions of this
harmonica. If you've played for a while and haven't yet
tried the Marine Band, give it a shot and decide for yourself.
