It sounds like to me that the site you're referring to is Harmonica Lessons.com. You might want to go to the link below and submit your story as a Short Story for others to read.
Congratulations,
Webmaster
: Ive had my harmonica for three years now, but when i first got it, i thought i broke it because none of the notes would play. I had only used it for 2-3 days, but i was just 13 at the time and knew nothing.
: Fast forward 3 years, im now 16. I picked up my harmonica a few days ago. I noticed it still had its problem. So i decided i wanted to fix it. I took the damned thing apart. Lo and behold, there is a wood chip stuck in it, laying across 3-4 reeds. Many of the screws were loose as well. I cleaned it out with some soap and water, and tightened the screws, then reassembled it.
: I wanted to learn how to play, so i came to your website. I spent the first day learning how to hold it and blow a strait noise. When i got that down, i learned the hand tremelo, wah wah's, and trills. They came easily. I was holding the harmonica cupped perfectly, so barely any sound escaped, and when i released it, there was a great tremelo. I listened to a few recordings on your website, and i could copy them exactly.
: Ive been a singer for a few years now, and i have a good ear. So i taught myself some songs. I learned the wedding march, aura lee, and mary had a little lamb. I thought that was a great way to spend a day.
: The next day, i picked up the thing, and looked at your tabs and sheet music. I learned the notation easily, and began sight reading your songs. It was for the most part, simple. I didnt know how to bend notes. I taught myself bending by reading your tutorials, and it didnt quite sound right, so i gave up on it.
: I ventured into your 'learn to improvise the blues' section. I learned only one of the riffs: 3b, 3d, 4d, 5b, 5d, 5b, 4d, 3d, 3b. The basic blues scale, i suppose. I couldnt figure out how to improvise blues, so i said "screw it".
: I started making up my own melodies, slowly. I would start at 4b, and just mess around with it, making it sound good. I was really slow, and it sounded like someone playing a piano with one finger. Not very exciting. I spent the rest of the day working on that.
: Now today. Today was pivotal. I played that blues scale again, then i just started jamming. I dont know what happened, but i was playing a mean harmonica, and it sounded damn good. I was like, "woah." I started using hand effects efficiently, i would slide between notes, using grace notes, and it sounded damned good. I make a harmonica sound like a professional harmonica player. Im not perfect, i cant seem to find a good note to end on, so i just end on the 3b usually, with a slide up.
: I am thinking of recording myself playing harmonica, and listening to it to see how good it is. What im hearing as i play it is how a professional would sound, even though im not as skilled as them. I am very very very happy with my harmonica!
