Harmonicas: Reed Plates

Replacement Reed Plates- Instead of buying a new harmonica, you can buy a set of these replacement reed plates when one reed or more goes bad. Depending upon use, diatonics typically last 3 months to a year before reeds fatique and go flat (they sound sour, and it's not your technique). Keep in mind, a new harmonica may only be $5 to $7 more.

Hohner MS Replacement Reed Plates- Replacement Reedplates for MS harmonicas (Cross Harp, Big River Harp, Pro Harp, Blues Harp and Meisterklasse) include top and bottom reedplates, set of mounting screws and instructions in a plastic case. Available in all 12 keys. Also, Low: D,Eb,E,F,F. High: G. Our thoughts: Hohner makes 2 grades of MS replacement reed plates -- high end and low end. These plates are the "high end" plates used in the Pro Harp, Meisterklasse, and others. These would be an upgrade to the "low end" plates used in the Big River Harps.

Lee Oskar Natural Minor Reed Plates- Instead of buying a new Lee Oskar harmonica, you can buy a set of these replacement reed plates when one reed or more goes bad. Depending upon use, diatonics typically last 3 months to a year before reeds fatique and go flat (they sound sour, and it's not you). Keep in mind, a new harmonica may only be $5 to $7 more. Also note that the "Natural Minor" tuned diatonic is made specifically to be played in the 2nd position and is used for songs in minor keys. The key of the harmonica or replacement reed plate set is the key for the 2nd position playing (i.e. to play a song in "G minor" using 2nd position, buy the key of "G" natural minor). Lee Oskar Replacement Cover Plates are also available.
