Harmonica CDs: Rock & Pop Music
-Recommended For Beginning Players-
You will see this following a CD description when the CD contains at least a few songs on it that can be played along with on a standard key of "C" diatonic (most likely played in the 2nd Position
in the key of "G"). We will also recommend the CD for beginners if the harmonica played on it will be good for "eartraining", that is, simple enough that the new player can begin to copy some of the riffs, sounds, and techniques found on it. All of these CDs are a good introduction to harmonica playing.

||Gage, Dave (GAGE Band)- "Love You Just The Same"- The GAGE Band, featuring Dave Gage on harmonica, packs a hard rock-blues edge. Dave's fast tongue-switching style of playing is unique; fans of Blues Traveler and rock harmonica should enjoy it greatly. Plenty of diatonic playing here (mostly 2nd and 3rd position) with chromatic harmonica on "Stormy Monday". Planet Harmonica says, "Dave plays very powerfully and treads the territory of rock guitar." ||Gage, Dave- "Well You Can't, Now Can You"- Dave Gage's first album from 1990 is very 80's pop, rock, and blues influenced. The harmonica on this album is very diverse and features many styles of playing on both diatonic and chromatic harmonicas. The solo instrumental, "Tap", is a classic example of the rock style tongue-switching techique he pioneered (a la Eddie Van Halen guitar 'tapping').
